GCSAA Celebrates 100 Years of Keeping the Game on Course

The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) commemorates its centennial this month, marking a century of service, education, innovation and leadership that has elevated the game and business of golf. ounded by Col. John Morley on Sept. 13, 1926, GCSAA began as the National Association of Greenkeepers of America following a meeting of 60 greenkeepers at Sylvania Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. Today, GCSAA has more than 21,000 members around the world who manage and maintain the game’s most valuable asset — the golf course. GCSAA’s mission is to serve its members, advance their profession and improve communities through the enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf.

Chicago-based Range Genie LLC has officially announced a strategic partnership with autonomous robotics developer Wayrobo to distribute its advanced robotic range pickers across the United States under the Range Genie brand name.

Vattanac Golf Resort will welcome the Staysure Legends Tour back to Cambodia in November, with the Troon-managed venue set to host two tournaments over consecutive weeks to conclude the 2026 season. The return will also see Vattanac Golf Resort introduce the Vattanac Legends Amateur Experience for the first time, offering a limited number of amateur golfers extraordinary access to compete alongside Legends Tour professionals during the opening week.

How Financially Healthy Are Golf Courses?

NGF: In 2009 and again in 2016, approximately one quarter of public U.S. golf courses indicated they were in poor financial health. Over the past five years, this proportion of poor (or “very poor”) has dropped to 5% or less, and the early returns this year among hundreds of responding golf course operators suggest nearly three-quarters of public facilities would rate their financial footing as “good” or “excellent.” A similar trajectory holds true with private clubs, with even fewer indicating they’re in dire financial health.
