First Tee congratulates Austin Smotherman on his first PGA Tour victory at the Bank of Utah Championship, held October 1-4 at Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah. Smotherman finished 26-under, claiming the title by two strokes in his 100th career Tour start. Smotherman’s road to the winner’s circle traces back to First Tee – Greater Sacramento, where he spent 10 years as a participant, beginning at age 7.

Santa Lucia Preserve Names Robert Sereci as Chief Executive Officer
Santa Lucia Preserve, California’s premier conservation community and club, located minutes from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, announced the appointment of Robert Sereci as Chief Executive Officer. Sereci is an experienced private clubs and residential community executive. In November, Sereci will succeed Karen Baxter, who has successfully served Santa Lucia Preserve since 2015, first as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer.

When the Misheff family took ownership of SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in 2010, the property was a Ferrari in grandma’s garage: a great car that hadn’t been tuned up, washed, or waxed in 15 years. Over the past decade-plus, the family and club’s management team have been hard at work, using the slower summers to make upgrades to the golf course, clubhouse and practice facility. This week, the course reopened from overseed, revealing the enhancements made in recent months, including the resurfacing of the green complexes on holes 3, 5 and 18.

AJGA’s Imperial Hawai‘i Junior Classic at Pearl at Kalauao Tees Off This Week
The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Imperial Hawai‘i Junior Classic at Pearl at Kalauao returns to Oʻahu this week, Oct. 10-12, bringing together 78 junior golfers from Hawaiʻi, the continental U.S. and abroad. The field includes 16 golfers from Hawai‘i — nine boys and seven girls — competing alongside some of the top junior golfers from around the globe.
