The Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC) announced the addition of Rachel Clopton to its golf instructor team and Christina Klejka as the new director of retail. Clopton, PGA Professional, joins AAC after nearly seven years at Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta, where she led instructional programs and championed junior golf initiatives. She helped launch a U.S. Kids Golf program that grew to 1,300 participants and managed the Club’s popular summer camp.

Michael Battaglia, Mikerly Joseph and Zachary Newsome are the 2025 Dr. James Watson Fellows from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), and each will receive a $5,000 scholarship and attend the 2026 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in Orlando. The Watson Fellowship is supported by The Toro Company and is administered by the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of GCSAA.

PGA Golf Club’s Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Chris Sykes, was named the 2025 Dr. Tom Samples “Professional of the Year” Award recipient from the Tennessee Turfgrass Association at the 60^th Annual Tennessee Turfgrass Association meeting on January 5, 2026. The Tom Samples Professional of the year Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Tennessee Turfgrass Association (TTA).
